The compact outer dimensions, as well as the four-wheel steering that can be turned on and off, give the vehicle maximum manoeuvrability and ensure perfect directional stability and safety for everyday work.

Excellent coverage

Fully variable positioning of the entire sweeping and suction nozzle unit to either side provides the optimum coverage.

Wide in diameter to pick up large items, and with a high-power fan, the suction intake ensures maximum air velocity for perfect sweeping results, no matter how hard the job is.

The unit is protected from impact damage because it retracts when an obstacle is encountered. The hydraulically activated large panel filter makes it possible to take up bulky material.

Trailed sweep gear

The 3-brush system with trailed gutter brooms and a third front brush offers simple operation with maximum sweeping performance and a sweeping width of up to 148”. The design of the sweep gear underneath the cab ensures a continuous overlap of the side brushes to the suction mouth and thus an optimal pick-up performance. The combination of the pushed sweep gear with 4-wheel steering ensures maximal manoeuverability combined with unparalleled sweeping performance. The lateral adjustment of the whole sweep gear and various side brush options such as tilting of the brushes offer a more versatile way of working with the sweeper. The third front brush allows more flexibility to clean also difficult to reach areas and allows second level sweeping. 

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems

With the operator and the sweeper's surroundings in focus, the Bucher CityCat VR50 can be equipped with various assistance options. A 360° camera system with bird's eye view, turning and reversing assistance with object detection and tire pressure monitoring ensure safe and pleasant working with the sweeper.

Low-emission engine and high-efficiency drive system

The smooth-running, high-torque Tier 4 Final diesel engine with extremely low fuel consumption and emission levels allows exceptionally reliable and economical operation.

The control concept employed on the diesel engine is designed to optimise fuel consumption and reduce noise emissions without making any compromises in performance.

This means fuel savings of up to 50% and reductions in noise levels of 20% in comparison with previous models.

High-capacity clean water volume

A capacity of 235 gallons of clean water ensures long service times. An extra 296 gallons water tank can be installed to maximise operating time.

The service water recovery option ensures a higher fresh water coverage and less service water swept up.

Same volume, different dumping height

The CityCat VR50 has a hopper capacity of 7.3 yd³ and a payload of 11,025 lbs.

Raising the hopper with the option of the high dump feature allows the debris to be tipped into large containers, skips or directly into refuse collection vehicles. This dramatically increases efficiency.

The hopper volume remains the same and does not become smaller. The Hopper is available in different stainless steel materials for individual corrosion resistance.

Ergonomic and smart

Each cabin comes with two fully fledged driver seats with headrests to offer not just a comfortable driving experience, but also an ergonomic workstation. In addition, a third folding seat can be installed, which allows the transport of three people at once.

We believe all drivers should enjoy working with our sweepers, so we’ve introduced a walk-through cab, soft touch steering and an armrest with ergonomically perfected controls. A great view out of the cab is not only provided by the big, heated front screen and all glass doors but also through the camera options of which the views can be displayed on the Smart-Con and CSense screens.

Of course, safety is crucial. From the 3-point safety belts to the enhanced illumination of the sweeping area - ensuring a safe overview and visibility for third parties - it’s our duty to take care.

Smart-Con - start sweeping with the push of a button

The CityCat VR50 offers an intuitive and ergonomic operation of the sweeper via the Smart-Con multifunctional armrest paired with the Smart-Con 4.3-inch display. The sweeper can be operated by one hand while having pop-up feedback on the Smart-Con screen for all automotive and sweeping related information which makes work a lot easier. Increases safety and ergonomics by always keeping the working area in sight.

CSense touch-display

The CSense 10.1-inch touch display enables extended setting possibilities and visual diagnostics while giving an excellent overview of the vehicle. The display can be adjusted in height and angle to ensure an ergonomic operation by the driver.

EasyClean System

The operator simply activates the EasyClean self-cleaning function. The blower, filter screen, dirty water tank, side walls and other difficult to reach pockets of dirt are then sprayed by the cleaning nozzles.

The aim is to ensure that sweepers are operated at their optimum level - and thus clean the roads better at a lower cost.

The economical year-round machine

The CityCat VR50 can be converted from sweeping to winter operation in record time.

Straight from the factory, the CityCat VR50 comes ready for winter service: for example, the flexible subframe under the hopper allows retrofitting the CityCat VR50 for (grit and de-icer) spreading duties.

A well-thought-out clutch system allows all hydraulic and electric cabling to be decoupled in no time at all, so the driver can modify the sweeper for winter conditions, unassisted, in only 30 minutes.

In this configuration, the sweep gear and suction nozzle simply remain on the sweeper.
