Modern pre-wetted salt technology and auger system
Modern pre-wetted salt technology and auger system

The new ECO pre-wetted salt technology from Bucher Municipal creates significant advantages in terms of economy. It saves on dry salt and significantly increases the residence time of the materials after they have been applied. The new ECO technology is available in the versions ECO FS 50 and ECO FS 100. The innovative twin-auger system has made it possible to design a container with a low profile. This special design feature with two parallel augers offers the user decisive advantages. The low sidewall height ensures that the driver has perfect, all round visibility. The low centre of gravity ensures safe driving and handling characteristics even in extreme conditions.

Latest generation microprocessor control systems for all kind of spreaders, with maximum flexibility in programming and visualizing the different spreading parameters: width, asymmetry and dosage depending on the vehicle speed. Six different tools in all-in-one control box.

ECO additional tank

Available for spreader units with twin auger system, made of stainless steel and mounted longitudinally. Available in many different container sizes.

Run dry protection

The run dry protection is part of the optional liquid salt equipment. The pump switches off immediately if the tank is empty and so damages will be preventing.

Electronic spread pattern programmer (optional)

A powerful servomotor and a potentiometer enable the symmetric and asymmetric setting of the spreading pattern with using the control panel. The servomotor is waterproof to IP 67 protection rating.

Sensor technology

Only available together with the Ecosat control panel. This compares the set-point and actual values of the spreader disc, the auger and the liquid salt pump. The sensors aresealed to IP 67 protection rating.

Equipment safety cover

The equipment safety cover is mounted in the hopper and has a light construction made of highly resistant GFK material.

Electronic spread control (optional)

The spread control is mounted on the disc protection. Contactless, infrared technology is used to monitor spreading. The housing is 100% waterproof to IP 67 protection rating.

Control unit Ecosat

Latest generation microprocessor control systems for all kind of spreaders, with maximum flexibility in programming and visualizing the different spreading parameters: width, asymmetry and dosage depending on the vehicle speed. Six different tools in all-in-one control box.

Ecosat has an integrated GSM/GPRS module (option) which enables operational data transmission. In case of bad coverage (e.g. tunnels) the data are logged and will be transmitted as soon as the connection is back.

Ecosat integrates (option) a multi-constellation GNSS receiver which supports GPS or GLONASS improving the localization performance in terms of accuracy, continuity, availability, and reliability.

The Ecosat stores daily operational reports and global counters which can be downloaded or printed via serial connection.

A serial connection between the infrared sensor and the Ecosat allows automatic changing of the spreading dosage based on the road temperature.

The Route-Replay is based on pre-defined geo-referenced spreading parameters settings uploaded on the EcoSat before the operation and used automatically during the mission relying on an enhanced positioning. The driver is guided by means of vocal and visual messages which show the road section already treated as well as the section that still has to be done. It is possible to exit from any pre-set route and re-entry at any point along the section.

On spreaders with electrical control of asymmetry, this function provides full control of the direction of spreading. The screen display varies according to the type of asymmetry: with or without feedback. 5 pre-set positions can be selected.

In this section of the working area, it is possible to monitor the level material in the tanks, the solid quantity in the hopper and also the fuel level (only for equipment with auxiliary engine).

The vehicle speed can be simulated from 5 to 90Km/h in steps of 5. This feature is useful when there is no tachometer connection, when the connection is damaged or when the spreader has to work while the vehicle is not moving.

ECO - Pre-wetted salt technology with increased brine

The new ECO pre-wetted salt technology from Bucher Municipal creates significant advantages in terms of economy. It saves on dry salt and significantly increases the residence time of the materials after they have been applied. The new ECO technology is available in the versions ECO FS 50 and ECO FS 100.

For the ECO FS 50 technology, the proportions of dry salt und brine are each 50 %. Practical experience has shown that increasing the brine proportion from 30 % to 50 % whilst at the same time reducing the proportion of dry salt from 70 % to 50 % has a very positive effect on the spreading distribution pattern. In addition, salt dissolved in brine has a much quicker de-icing effect than dry salt in the form of rock salt or evaporated salt. In addition the residence time of the spread material is significantly longer than for material spread by conventional FS 30 spreading runs.

The ECO FS 100 pre-wetted salt technology on the other hand delivers pure brine. There are different versions available with spray widths of 6 metres, 8 metres and 12 metres. The ECO FS 100 / 6 m and 100 / 8 m technology distributes pure brine via the standard spreader disc. The ECO FS 100 / 12 m pre-wetted salt technology on the other hand has a special BrineStar® spray unit mounted underneath the spreader disc. The BrineStar® distributes spray across a width of up to 12 metres.

If a spreader unit with FS 30 pre-wetted salt spreading is equipped with the additional ECO FS 100 / 8 m option, the operational capabilities are extended from the normal FS 30 spreader to a pure brine spray with a spray width of 8 metres. In addition, with the ECO FS 100 / 12 m option the customer obtains the facility using the BrineStar® to spread pure brine across a spray width up to 12 metres. Therefore when the customer orders the ECO FS 100 pre-wetted salt technology he obtains an attractively-priced combination spreader unit with very high flexibility in daily winter service operation.

The consistently positive results from the FS 50 spreader technology have been officially tested and approved by BAST to the DIN EN 15597-1/2 standard. The high precision of the ECO FS 100 technology has also allowed Bucher Municipal to be the first winter service equipment provider to be approved by the winter service test centre WINDIP for standard distribution and maximum projection range based on DIN EN 15597 1 and 2.

For the ECO FS 50 technology, the proportions of dry salt und brine are each 50%. So that the necessary additional brine supply can be carried on the truck, one or more additional tanks are fitted to the front of the spreader unit. Spreader units with the twin auger system have additionally the capability to accept an ECO additional tank made of stainless steel and mounted longitudinally. The loading of dry material into the hopper is not affected by this solution, since the hopper length remains unchanged.

For this technology the brine content is 100 %. The standard spreader unit is capable of distributing the brine up a width of 8 metres. Thus if a standard spreader unit with FS 30 equipment is retrofitted with the ECO FS 100 technology the result is a highly flexible combination spreader unit which can be used as required either for pure dry salt, pre-wetted salt FS 30, pre-wetted salt with increased brine content ECO FS 50 or if desired pure brine ECO FS 100 can be spread via the spreader disc.

The ECO FS 100 / 12 m pre-wetted salt technology on the other hand has a special BrineStar® spray unit mounted underneath the spreader disc. The BrineStar® distributes spray across a width of up to 12 metres. The particularly low brine distribution spread means that oncoming road users are not affected. Furthermore it achieves a uniform spray distribution pattern with less turbulence than conventional nozzle systems or spray bars.
