Pushed sweep gear

The pushed sweep gear design keeps the side brushes positioned directly ahead of the front axle, offering the operator clear visibility and effortless control for maximum sweeping performance. This forward placement allows debris to be collected efficiently before passing under the vehicle, ensuring consistent pick-up along kerbs, walls, and narrow passages. With an adjustable sweeping width ranging from 1200 mm to 2400 mm, the Bucher CityCat VR17e adapts effortlessly from the narrowest alleyways to wider paths. Combined with four-wheel steering, the sweeper maintains perfect brush alignment even when cornering tightly, so no material is left behind.

On-board charger & energy recuperation

With 11 kW AC charging and 45 kW DC fast charging, the system provides full flexibility to meet individual needs. Whether for a single shift or multiple shifts, charging takes 4 to 5 hours with AC charging and less than 60 minutes with DC fast charging to be ready for the next full work cycle.

Depending which recuperation level is selected the high-voltage battery will be charged during the deceleration. Thus, the range will be further extended.

Standard car driving license

Engineered within the 3.5 t vehicle class, the Bucher CityCat VR17e can be operated with a standard car driving license. No special permits mean more staff can operate it — adding flexibility for fleet managers and cities alike.

Operating noise at only 91 dB(A)

Due to the very low noise emissions of 91 dB(A) (2000/14/EG), operations are possible around the clock, even at night. Low noise levels are especially important in cities and residential areas to minimize disturbance, improve quality of life, and ensure compliance with local noise regulations.

Sweeping suction power

Built on Bucher Municipal’s proven sweeping technology, the Bucher CityCat VR17e delivers strong, consistent suction thanks to its wide-diameter, straight suction hose and energy-optimised fan. This design ensures powerful airflow for efficient removal of dust, litter, and heavier urban debris — even on uneven surfaces.

The straight suction hose reduces the risk of blockages, supporting reliable, trouble-free operation shift after shift. Combined with an adjustable sweeping width from 1200 mm to  2400 mm, it ensures thorough cleaning of both narrow spots and wider areas — making this sweeper an agile and highly effective solution for demanding urban environments.

1.7 m³ aluminium hopper with water recirculation

The newly designed 1.7 m³ hopper is made of durable aluminium to last the life of the sweeper. The large and easy to clean filter screen ensures high air velocity even in leaf season by preventing premature clogging. The hopper can be operated either from the outside of the sweeper or directly from the cab. With a dumping height of 1350 mm, the swept material can be easily emptied into containers. A continous direct-feeding system ensures optimal lubrication of suction hose, while the water recirculation system reuses the water inside the hopper. This reduces refilling costs and extends on-station time.

Developed with comfort and safety in mind

Each cabin comes with fully fledged driver seat with headrest to offer not just a comfortable driving experience, but also an ergonomic workstation.
We believe all drivers should enjoy working with our sweepers, so we’ve introduced a walk-through cab, soft touch steering and an armrest with ergonomically perfected controls. A great view out of the cab is not only provided by the big, heated front screen and all glass doors but also through the camera options of which the views can be displayed on the Smart-Con and CSense screens.
Of course, safety is crucial. From the 3-point safety belt to the enhanced illumination of the sweeping area - ensuring a safe overview and visibility for third parties - it’s our duty to take care.

Smart-Con - start sweeping with the push of a button

The CityCat VR17e offers an intuitive and ergonomic operation of the sweeper via the Smart-Con multifunctional armrest paired with the Smart-Con 4.3-inch display. The sweeper can be operated by one hand while having pop-up feedback on the Smart-Con screen for all automotive and sweeping related information which makes work a lot easier. Increases safety and ergonomics by always keeping the working area in sight.

CSense touch-display

The CSense 10.1-inch touch display enables extended setting possibilities and visual diagnostics while giving an excellent overview of the vehicle.
